Final Post - About the blog

Thank you for a great semester and a bunch of fun projects. The portfolio along with the blog is a great way to use this later in life.

Happy Holidays.

Project 7 - Illustrator - Archetecture Design

I chose the records office just outside the front of Northampton Community College. I chose this because it’s the first thing that new students see when they arrive at school, and one of the first buildings every student has to go through in order to go this college. The signs out front and the overall design of the building add to NCC’s character as a whole. The office is a beautiful building and you can see each of the buildings filled with classrooms towering in the background. This building is a staple of the college and it deserves an Adobe Illustrator rchitectural Makeover.

Project 6 - Illustrator - Line, Shape and Value Project

I used three photos for my project and I feel that each one puts a bit of an expression about myself. The first one was taken shortly after I reached my weight loss goal, that is me, size 36 jeans in my old 44s. The lyrics on the picture are Oasis's Wonderwall, one of my favorite songs, and a very powerful song indeed. The second picture is me lighting a fire with an note from an old 'friend'. We said some things to eachother and baiscally its just emotions, and viewpoints coming off that particular moment. The final picture was me with my old kitten Barry, he has quite an interesting, yet short lived four legged life. I miss my Barry.

Project 5 - Illustrator - Company Logo

For this project we used a rather simple design that almost anyone could draw on a piece of paper. The logo could also potentially become recognizeable. We liked how some of the letters outstreched to make the stems on the plants. Overall, the letter, business card and stationary are pretty simple, but this goes well with our simple design. The colors and the flowers give the viewer a general overview of what the store has to offer.

Project 4 - Photoshop - Web Layout

I went with a rather simple web-layout. It has a soft gradient in the background and a rainbow gradient across one of the pop-out menus. I displayed some of the jewlery on the front page and used the general layout to show the different types of Jewlery. I made sure to put all the disclaimers on the page to that the viewers could see his stand. I also felt it was important to include the images that help the viewer know how to order and pay for the product.

Project 3 - Photoshop - Dreamscape

For this project I took advantage of the freedom to include what ever I wanted. When driving one day I imagined just what it might be like to take my car into space. I started by taking a photo of myself with arms on the steering wheel, and splicing in a picture with my face in the side mirror. Upon finding a breath-taking space-scape that would work well beneath my ride into space, I started to add things I might see on my journey. The planet on the right, Jupiter appears not because of it being my favorite, but because it is the largest, and made sure to have the storm brewing on the planet visible in the picture. The space station in my windshiled brings comic book-reminders of my first project. The comet speeding towards its eminant distruction shows the irony in any situations. I added a space can, more of an inside joke then anything, but I'm sure space has trash, at least if people are driving cars through it. I added earth in the rear view mirror to show not only that my journey was just beginning but that my home was still in view. I always found humor in billboards, advertisements and incorperating intergelatic projection into said subjects. The 'Eat at Joe's' planet is half personal humor, half homeage to the millions of cartoons and comedies that used that gag to always get a laugh out of their audience. I imagine I'd see SOME form of life in space, why not a space cow? Also, and again, I do find irony in space cows hopping over a planet advertising space hamburgers. The project more or less came together as I went, adding another item as I saw fit, and deciding if what I did add worked well together.

Project 2 - Photoshop - Time and Place

I chose this for my project because I enjoy the Austin Powers Movies, and I was looking for something odd to do as well. The great thing about the series is that Mike Myers plays a great deal of characters in his movies, so his image would appear a number of times on the cover of the DVD. This would allow me to attempt to place myself into both the character of Austin and Dr. Evil. Dr. Evil's complexion is a bit difficult to work with, so I tried to keep the amount of MY skin to a minimum when working on putting myself into his liking the two times he appears on the cover. Austin appears three times.
